University of Toronto Lester B. Pearson Scholarship 2027
The University of Toronto is accepting school nominations for the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship 2027.
The scholarship recognises international students with exceptional academic achievement, creativity, leadership potential and a record of contributing positively to their schools and communities. Approximately 37 students are selected each year.
Scholarship benefits
The Lester B. Pearson Scholarship covers:
- full tuition fees;
- books;
- incidental university fees; and
- full residence support for four years.
The scholarship is available only for first-entry undergraduate programmes at the University of Toronto. It does not normally cover travel, visa fees, relocation expenses or living costs during school holidays.
Who can apply?
Applicants must:
- be international students who require a Canadian study permit;
- be in their final year of secondary school during 2026/2027 or have graduated no earlier than June 2026;
- plan to begin undergraduate study at the University of Toronto in September 2027; and
- be nominated by their current secondary school.
Students already attending a university or other post-secondary institution are not eligible. Students beginning post-secondary study in January 2027 are also ineligible.
Important deadlines
- School nomination deadline: 9 October 2026
- University of Toronto admission application deadline: 16 October 2026
- Pearson Scholarship application deadline: 6 November 2026
Schools that have participated before receive their secure nomination form directly from the University. A school may nominate only one student per year.
How to apply
The application involves three stages.
1. Obtain a school nomination
Students cannot nominate themselves. Speak with your school counsellor, principal or head of school and request consideration for nomination.
Schools that have not previously participated must first register and be verified by the University of Toronto.

This form must be completed by authorised school personnel using an official school or government email address. The school-registration deadline is noon Eastern Time on 9 October 2026. Verification may take several weeks, so schools should register early.
2. Apply for undergraduate admission
The nominated student must apply to at least one University of Toronto undergraduate programme.

Applications begin through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre. After applying, students receive access to the Join U of T applicant portal, where they can upload documents and complete any programme-specific requirements.
Applicants may choose up to three programme areas. However, the Pearson Scholarship, when awarded, is restricted to the applicant’s first-choice programme at the time scholarship decisions are made.
3. Complete the scholarship application
After the school nomination and undergraduate application have been received, the nominated student will receive a private Pearson Scholarship application link.
There is no public student application form. Only students officially nominated by their secondary schools receive access to the scholarship application.

Important warning
The University of Toronto does not use agents or recruitment agencies to nominate students or award the Pearson Scholarship. Applicants should not pay anyone who promises nomination, admission or scholarship selection.
The University also prohibits using generative AI to create content for undergraduate award applications. Applicants found to have used AI-generated application content may be disqualified.
Current status: School nominations are open. Students should contact their secondary schools immediately because the nomination deadline is 9 October 2026.
