Sciences Po Émile Boutmy Scholarship 2027
Sciences Po in France offers the Émile Boutmy Scholarship to outstanding international students applying for eligible Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes.
The scholarship is intended for first-time applicants from outside the European Union whose households do not file taxes within the European Union. Selection is based mainly on academic merit and the applicant’s suitability for the chosen programme.
Scholarship benefits
Bachelor’s students
Successful undergraduate applicants receive either:
- a full tuition-fee exemption; or
- a €9,500 tuition-fee reduction.
The award is normally maintained during the three-year Bachelor’s programme, including the compulsory third year abroad, provided the student meets the academic requirements.
Master’s students
Successful Master’s applicants receive a tuition-fee exemption of:
€18,500 per year for each of the two years of study.
The scholarship covers tuition fees only. Accommodation, airfare, food and other living expenses are not listed as standard benefits.
Who can apply?
Applicants must generally:
- be applying to Sciences Po for the first time;
- come from a country outside the European Union;
- have a household that does not file taxes within the European Union;
- apply for an eligible Bachelor’s or two-year Master’s programme; and
- meet the admission and language requirements of the selected programme.
Applicants with dual nationality that includes citizenship of an EU country are not eligible.
The scholarship is also unavailable for:
- PhD programmes;
- one-year Master’s programmes;
- exchange programmes;
- most Bachelor’s and Master’s dual degrees; and
- the Master’s in Journalism and Joint Master in Journalism and International Affairs.
Application dates
Sciences Po will open applications for the 2027 Master’s intake at the end of September 2026.
The currently listed Émile Boutmy Master’s scholarship deadlines are:
- 19 October 2026 for the first scholarship committee; and
- 30 November 2026 for the second scholarship committee.
Applicants should use the earlier deadline where their chosen programme has an earlier closing date. The general international Master’s admission deadline is 21 February 2027, but applicants seeking the Boutmy Scholarship must submit by the scholarship deadline.
The undergraduate scholarship deadline for the 2027 intake has not yet been published. Applicants should monitor the official scholarship and undergraduate admission pages.
How to apply
There is no separate external scholarship form.
Applicants must:
- Create an application through the Sciences Po admissions portal.
- Select an eligible Bachelor’s or Master’s programme.
- Complete the required admission sections.
- Select the Émile Boutmy Scholarship in the Financial Information section.
- Submit the complete application, including language-test results and references, before the scholarship deadline.
The scholarship request cannot be added after the Sciences Po application has been submitted or after the applicant has received admission. Only applicants admitted to an eligible programme will have their scholarship requests considered.

Important notice
The Émile Boutmy Scholarship is not automatically awarded. Applicants must request it within their Sciences Po admission application.
It cannot normally be combined with scholarships awarded by Sciences Po or its partners, including the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship. However, it may be combined with certain external awards. Applicants who defer admission may lose the scholarship.
