Akomst Education (“Akomst”, “we”, “us” or “our”) operates the education blog available at akomst.blogspot.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected when you visit or interact with the blog, how that information may be used, and the choices available to you.
1. Information we may collect
Information you provide
We may receive information that you choose to provide when you:
- submit a message through the contact form;
- leave a comment on a post;
- send an enquiry about advertising, corrections or content;
- subscribe to an email update or other service, where such a feature is offered.
This information may include your name, email address, profile information, comment, message and any other details you voluntarily provide. Comments and profile details submitted publicly may be visible to other visitors.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the blog, Blogger, Google and other integrated service providers may automatically receive technical information such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, device type, operating system, language, referring page, pages viewed, approximate location, date and time of access, and interactions with advertisements or site features.
2. Cookies and similar technologies
Akomst Education is hosted on Blogger and displays advertising through Google AdSense. Google and other third-party vendors may place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons, IP addresses and similar technologies, to provide, measure, personalise and protect advertising and other services.
Cookies may be used to remember preferences, measure traffic, prevent fraud, limit how often an advert is shown, and show adverts that may be more relevant to visitors. You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Restricting cookies may affect some site features.
You can learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at Google’s information for partner sites. You can manage Google advertising preferences through Google Ads Settings.
3. Advertising
Google AdSense and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve personalised or non-personalised adverts, measure advertising performance, prevent invalid activity and generate aggregated reports. Akomst Education does not control the cookies placed directly by Google or other authorised advertising providers.
Where required by law, visitors may be shown a consent or privacy message before certain cookies or personalised advertising technologies are used. Choices made through that message may be stored and communicated to participating advertising providers.
4. Analytics and site measurement
Blogger statistics and, where enabled, Google Analytics or similar measurement tools may be used to understand how visitors find and use the blog. These tools may collect device, browser, traffic-source and usage information. We use this information to improve articles, navigation, performance and the overall reader experience.
5. How we use information
Information may be used to:
- operate, maintain and improve the blog;
- respond to questions, correction requests and advertising enquiries;
- moderate comments and protect the site from spam, fraud, abuse and security threats;
- understand readership and content performance;
- display and measure advertising;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce site policies.
6. Legal grounds and data-protection rights
Where applicable, information is processed on recognised grounds such as consent, legitimate interests, performance of a requested service, compliance with legal obligations and protection of the blog and its users. Akomst Education aims to handle personal information consistently with applicable data-protection laws, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 where it applies.
Depending on your location and the applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or objection to certain processing of your personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. These rights may be subject to legal exceptions and the technical control of third-party platforms.
7. Sharing of information
We do not sell visitors’ personal information. Information may be processed or shared with:
- Google, Blogger, AdSense, analytics and other service providers needed to operate the blog;
- professional advisers or service providers acting on our instructions;
- public authorities where disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety and security;
- a successor operator if the blog or its assets are transferred.
Public comments and profile information are visible to other visitors according to the settings of the commenting platform.
8. External links and embedded content
Articles may link to universities, examination bodies, scholarship providers, government agencies, social networks, videos and other third-party websites. Those services operate under their own privacy policies and practices. Akomst Education is not responsible for how external websites collect or use information.
9. Data retention
Direct enquiries and related correspondence are retained only for as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain records, resolve disputes, protect the blog or meet legal obligations. Information held by Blogger, Google or another third party is retained according to that provider’s policies and settings.
10. Data security and international processing
Reasonable administrative and technical measures are used to protect information under our control. However, no website or electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Because Blogger, Google and other providers operate internationally, information may be processed or stored in countries other than the country from which you access the blog, subject to the safeguards used by those providers.
11. Children and young people
Akomst Education publishes general educational information for students, parents, teachers and school leaders. We do not knowingly request unnecessary personal information from children. Young users should avoid posting private information publicly and should use contact or commenting features with the guidance of a parent, guardian or responsible adult where appropriate.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the blog’s services, advertising tools or legal obligations change. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
13. Contact us
Questions about this Privacy Policy, requests concerning personal information, or reports of a privacy concern may be submitted through the Akomst Contact page. Please provide enough information for us to understand and respond to the request, but do not send sensitive personal information unnecessarily.
