JAMB has set the minimum tolerable UTME score at 150 for universities and Colleges of Nursing, while polytechnics, monotechnics, Colleges of Agriculture, Colleges of Education and Innovation Enterprise Institutions have a national minimum of 100. Individual institutions are free to set higher cut-off marks.

JAMB CAPS: what every candidate should do
Getting a good Post-UTME score does not mean the admission process is finished.
JAMB requires admissions to be processed through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). CAPS allows candidates to monitor their admission status and respond to provisional admission offers.
Candidates should therefore:
Ensure their O'Level result has been uploaded to JAMB.
Log in regularly to the JAMB e-Facility/CAPS.
Open Admission Status to see whether an offer has been made.
Accept or reject an admission offer when it appears.
Continue monitoring the university portal for acceptance-fee, clearance and registration instructions.
Candidates using awaiting results must upload the final O'Level result before their institution processes their admission. JAMB's CAPS guidance specifically states that candidates with awaiting results must upload them before they can be considered for admission.
What “Admission in Progress” means
If CAPS displays Admission in Progress, it generally means the candidate's admission is still moving through the approval process.
Do not panic and do not pay anyone who claims they can “upgrade” or release the admission.
Continue checking CAPS and the institution's official admission portal.
What if CAPS says “Not Admitted”?
“Not Admitted” does not always mean the admission exercise is over.
Institutions may process admissions in batches. A candidate who has not yet received an offer should continue checking until the institution announces that its admission exercise has ended.
LASU, for example, is currently uploading its 2026/2027 admissions in batches.
Don't forget your O'Level upload
This is one of the easiest ways for an otherwise qualified candidate to lose an admission opportunity.
UNILAG has specifically warned its 2026/2027 candidates that anyone who fails to upload an O'Level result to both JAMB CAPS and the UNILAG portal by 14 August 2026 will not be considered for admission.
Federal University Lokoja similarly requires applicants to upload their O'Level results to JAMB before they can complete screening.
Important official portals
Candidates should use:
the official JAMB e-Facility for admission-status and CAPS access;
the official JAMB CAPS information page for CAPS guidance;
and the official admission or Post-UTME portal of the institution they applied to.
Avoid Post-UTME registration links sent by unknown social-media accounts. Confirm the web address from the university or polytechnic's main website before making payment.
A note for candidates changing institution or course
Some candidates may need to change institution or course where they no longer meet the cut-off mark or where their programme is unavailable.
For example, FUOYE has announced that it will not admit candidates into Law for 2026/2027 and is advising affected applicants to move to other available programmes.
JAMB provides an official Change of Course/Institution service through its portal. Available alternatives depend on programme and institutional availability.
Keep checking this page
Post-UTME deadlines and admission lists change quickly. A portal that is closed today may be reopened, while an institution still screening candidates may begin uploading admissions to CAPS without much notice.
