University of Dundee Global Excellence Scholarship 2026/2027
The University of Dundee Global Excellence Scholarship provides substantial tuition-fee support to international students with outstanding academic qualifications.
The scholarship is available for eligible undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes beginning in September 2026 or January 2027.
It is a partial tuition-fee scholarship rather than a fully funded award. It does not ordinarily cover living expenses, travel, accommodation or visa charges. The University states that its scholarships are awarded as partial reductions towards tuition costs.
Scholarship value
The value of the scholarship depends on the applicant’s level of study:
- Undergraduate students: £7,500 per eligible year of study;
- Postgraduate taught students: £8,000 per eligible year of study.
Undergraduate applicants may receive the scholarship for up to five years of progressing study, giving a possible maximum value of £37,500.
Where an eligible postgraduate taught programme lasts longer than 12 months and a full eligible tuition fee is payable in each academic year, the £8,000 scholarship may be applied in every eligible year.
The award is applied as a tuition-fee discount. No direct cash payment is ordinarily made to the student.
September 2026 intake
For undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes beginning on 21 September 2026, the scholarship deadline is:
Friday, 28 August 2026 at 11:59 p.m. UK time

Both September 2026 scholarship pages state that the award is for full-time international students and closes on 28 August 2026.
January 2027 intake
The January 2027 deadlines differ slightly according to the applicant’s level of study.
Undergraduate
- Starting date: 19 January 2027
- Scholarship deadline: 30 January 2027 at 11:59 p.m. UK time
- Global Excellence Undergraduate Scholarship – January 2027
Postgraduate taught
- Starting date: 11 January 2027
- Scholarship deadline: 29 January 2027 at 11:59 p.m. UK time
- Global Excellence Postgraduate Scholarship – January 2027
Applicants should not wait until the scholarship deadline before applying for admission. Course applications take time to process, and some programmes may close earlier when all available places have been filled.
Undergraduate eligibility
To qualify for the undergraduate Global Excellence Scholarship, an applicant must:
- hold an offer for an eligible University of Dundee undergraduate programme;
- apply for a full-time, on-campus Bachelor’s programme;
- be classified as an international fee-paying student;
- begin the programme in September 2026 or January 2027;
- have achieved AAB at A-Level or above, or an equivalent qualification; and
- apply for a programme with an annual tuition fee of at least £21,800.
Programmes in the School of Medicine and School of Dentistry are excluded.
The University of Dundee determines whether qualifications obtained in Nigeria or another country are equivalent to the stated UK academic requirement.
Applicants can:

Postgraduate eligibility
A postgraduate taught applicant must:
- hold an offer for an eligible University of Dundee postgraduate taught programme;
- apply for a full-time, on-campus programme leading to a Master’s degree;
- be classified as an international fee-paying student;
- begin the programme in September 2026 or January 2027;
- have achieved a UK First-Class degree or an equivalent qualification; and
- apply for a programme with a tuition fee of at least £22,250.
The academic requirement also applies to the Graduate Entry LLB.
The scholarship is not available for PhD programmes.

Are Nigerian and other African students eligible?
Yes. Nigeria, The Gambia and many other African countries appear on the eligibility lists for the September 2026 and January 2027 undergraduate and postgraduate Global Excellence Scholarships.
However, nationality alone does not guarantee the award. Applicants must satisfy the academic, programme, fee-status and admission requirements.
How to apply
There is no separate application form for the Global Excellence Scholarship.
The University of Dundee Admissions Team automatically considers eligible students using the information and documents submitted with their application for admission.
Step 1: Choose an eligible course

Use the How to apply or Apply now option on the selected course page.
Most undergraduate applicants apply through UCAS. Postgraduate taught applicants usually apply directly through the University of Dundee course page.

Step 4: Upload the required documents
Applicants should upload complete and accurate supporting documents, which may include:
- final academic certificate;
- official academic transcript;
- evidence of English-language proficiency;
- passport identification page;
- personal statement;
- curriculum vitae;
- academic or professional references; and
- other course-specific documents.
The exact requirements depend on the selected programme.
After submitting an application, applicants can use the University’s guide on uploading documents through My Applications on eVision.
Step 5: Wait for scholarship assessment
The University assesses scholarship eligibility during the offer process.
Applicants with pending academic results may not receive a confirmed scholarship until their final results have been submitted and verified. Awards cannot be made solely on the basis of predicted grades or without the required evidence.
Step 6: Monitor eVision
Scholarship decisions and requests for further information are communicated through the online applicant portal.
Applicants who have already submitted their course application can:
- sign in to eVision; or
- read the My Applications document-upload guide.
Login details are normally provided in the acknowledgement email sent after an application has been submitted.
Is an admission offer enough?
No. Admission and scholarship decisions are separate.
An applicant may meet the normal requirements for admission without meeting the higher academic threshold required for the Global Excellence Scholarship.
Can the scholarship be combined with another award?
The Global Excellence Scholarship may be combined with:
- the Alumni Scholarship; or
- the Alumni and Family Scholarship.
However, the combined value of University of Dundee scholarships cannot normally exceed 50% of the applicant’s total tuition fee.
The Global Excellence Scholarship cannot be combined with:
- the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship;
- the GEMS Scholarship;
- Chevening Scholarship;
- Commonwealth Scholarship; or
- GREAT Scholarship.
Where an external sponsor pays the student’s tuition fees in full, University of Dundee scholarships or discounts will generally not apply unless a separate agreement exists.
Scholarship decision
The University communicates scholarship decisions through its online applicant portal.
Applicants may receive:
- confirmation that the scholarship has been awarded;
- notice that they have not met the eligibility criteria; or
- a request for additional information.
The University states that scholarship and bursary decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
