Applicants should be enrolled in an eligible programme and institution and must satisfy the requirements shown on the Federal Ministry of Education scholarship portal.</p><p>The wider scholarship reform gives priority to Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medical Sciences (STEMM). Under the new allocation structure, 70 per cent of awards within each level are prioritised for STEMM disciplines, while 30 per cent support Social Sciences. Safe Schools Initiative Moves to Education Ministry as Senate Probes School Security Funds

<p>The Federal Government has transferred the <strong data-end="7281" data-start="7254">Safe Schools Initiative</strong> from the Federal Ministry of Finance to the Federal Ministry of Education as questions continue over the funding and implementation of Nigeria's school-security programme.</p>
<p data-end="7703" data-start="7455">Education Minister Tunji Alausa disclosed that the Ministry has also established a dedicated <strong data-end="7575" data-start="7548">Safe Schools Department</strong> to coordinate policy, implementation, monitoring and engagement with state governments. <span class="contents" data-content-reference-end="7554" data-content-reference-start="7530"><span class="" data-state="closed"></span></span></p>

Tinubu Approves Regularisation of 3,252 PTA Teachers in Federal Unity Colleges

<p>President Bola Tinubu has approved the recruitment process for <strong data-end="4319" data-start="4265">3,252 verified Parent-Teacher Association teachers</strong> serving in Federal Unity Colleges into the Federal Civil Service.</p>
<p data-end="4669" data-start="4387">The approval follows an inter-ministerial verification exercise carried out to identify eligible PTA teachers across the federal colleges. <p data-end="2008" data-start="1822">The current published stipend for 2025/2026 is <strong data-end="1910" data-start="1869">£20,400 per year, or £1,700 per month</strong>. <h2 data-end="2044" data-section-id="wq0ubv" data-start="2010">Eligible West African countries</h2>
<p data-end="2098" data-start="2046">Applicants must be citizens of one of the following:</p>
<p data-end="2334" data-start="2100">Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Côte d'Ivoire, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, São Tomé and Principe, Togo, or the listed British South Atlantic territories.</p>
<p data-end="2491" data-start="2336">Applicants must also have lived in one or more of the eligible countries for at least <strong data-end="2452" data-start="2422">five of the last ten years</strong>. <span class="contents" data-content-reference-end="2487" data-content-reference-start="2449"><span class="" data-state="closed"></span></span></p>

<p data-end="2666" data-start="2518">Applicants must have completed an undergraduate degree by the scholarship deadline and normally need a <strong data-end="2665" data-start="2621">First Class Honours degree or equivalent</strong>.</p>
<p data-end="2840" data-start="2668">Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy applicants are assessed according to the highest classification available in their university system. <span class="contents" data-content-reference-end="2821" data-content-reference-start="2799"><span class="" data-state="closed"></span></span></p>
<h2 data-end="2860" data-section-id="p6lkrd" data-start="2842">Age requirement</h2>
<p data-end="2929" data-start="2862">Applicants must generally be <strong data-end="2928" data-start="2891">18–24 years old on 1 October 2026</strong>.</p>
<p data-end="3070" data-start="2931">An upper age limit of 25 applies to some Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Law and Engineering candidates completing professional internships.</p>
