The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) continues to process applications and disburse funds to eligible beneficiaries across the country. Recent updates indicate that total disbursements have surpassed ₦355 billion, covering both institutional tuition fees and direct student upkeep allowances.

If you are among the students waiting for your funds, it is important to know how to track your application safely and correctly.
How the Disbursement Works
The loan is split into two parts:
  1. Institutional Fees: Paid directly to your university, polytechnic, or college of education.
  2. Upkeep Allowance: Paid directly into the personal bank account you registered with, to support your living expenses during the academic session.
How to Check Your Status Safely
You do not need to visit a physical office or pay anyone to check your status. Follow these steps:
  1. Go to the official NELFUND website: https://nelf.gov.ng
  2. Click on the "Student Loan Portal" or "Login" button.
  3. Enter your registered email address or phone number and your password.
  4. Navigate to your dashboard. Here, you will see the exact status of your application, the amount approved, and whether the funds have been marked as "Disbursed".
Important Warnings for Students
  • No "Processing Fees": NELFUND does not ask students to pay any money to "fast-track", "unlock", or "release" their loans. Anyone asking for money is running a scam.
  • Bank Details: Ensure the bank account linked to your NELFUND profile is active and in your name. Upkeep allowances will fail if the account details are incorrect or dormant.
  • Delays: If your dashboard shows "Disbursed" but your account has not been credited, allow a few working days for inter-bank processing. If the delay persists, use the official support ticket system on the NELFUND portal.
